Hey folks I just came down with a nasty ear infection in my left ear, the ear that hasn't bothered me in a long time. I just hate it. The pains, the sleep deprivation, the loss of appetite, the meds, I hate it all! I could just pull my ears out and get new ones!

For those who wonder why I wanna pull my ears out and get new ones is cause every year it seems like almost, I get these things. I've suffered with them all my life and I'm just tired.

dear me its not exactly fatal a positive attitude is important in dealing with this..you will heal faster if you stop moaning.

Um Goblin thanks a lot for not being such a big help. Obviously I need to give you my ear for a day or 2 to let you see what it feels like then you'll sit down and think before you talk about my moaning. Talking about moaning? Your day is coming too.

Goblin I feel sorry for you if you ever want to be a counselor, I'm afraid your counseling job would fail.

I had an ear infection 19 months ago now, in October 2004. I was staying with Blairwitch (Kay) and it came on really suddenly during the night. My left ear completely closed up and I couldn't hear a thing when I woke the next day I Kay's mum was at work, but eventually got Kay's message, came home and we found a local GP practice which had a free slot, so we all trooped down there. We went to get the drops I needed, and by the Saturday morning, the day after it all started, it was more or less gone. I've a nasty feeling I have another one brewing now myself, but I think I've caught it early if mum'll run me down to Farnham Health Centre later.

Oh I know, the pain sucks! To be honest with you I like the ones where you can't hear more then ones with the pain.

Yeah, same here, of course. Even though, of course, we need our hearing more than sighted people, pain is worse than not hearing fr a while.

I don't know if this will help or not, but I used to get them in my right ear all the time. Oral antibiotics didn't always help. But prescription antibiotic ear drops combined with a prescription decongestant did seem to help. Another thing I do as a preventative is use Murine Swimmers Ear Drops after every bath or shower if I get water in my ears. That seems to help because I think a lot of my infections started due to water build up in that ear.

I deffinitely do have an ear infection. Went to the doctors this morning, showed her the ear drops we got from the pharmacy on Saturday to break down a large amount of ear wax, but instead of making things better, the drops had given me Swimmers ear, an infection of the outer ear canal. Take my advice and just use Olive oil, virgin or sunflower oil if you get an ear infection. Do not ever, go down the pharmacy and pick up one of their quack remedies. These contain hydrogen peroxide which is pretty nasty stuff in the wrong hands and which my GP says was the cause of my Swimmers Ear.

Christina, i've had the ear infections back when I was 21 years and pretty much previously through my life as a child.
I hated it, of course, though.

bellatrix: I got swimmer's ear not too long ago...hurt like heck, and anytime anything touched my right ear it started hurting again. It was a pain in the neck, or the ear, as the case may be...but then I've had actual ear infections since I was six months old. They're nothing new, but I'll never get used to them...*smiles*
